Do It Yourself Interior Painting

Many homeowners would like to save money by painting their homes themselves. But, they may not know how. They realize that if they don’t paint their home correctly that it would not look good. So, they go to paint stores, read books and go online to try and find resources about how to paint a home themselves. Some try to paint to save money while others do it because they enjoy painting.. yes.. I know. I can hear the chuckles now from the hubbies who “DO NOT” enjoy it and that’s the last thing they want to do with their weekends and vacations is to paint a house.

Than there is the process of selecting paint colors and sheens. Should you use flat paint, satin sheen, semi-gloss, eggshell enamel or velvet satin? Should you get a cheap paint or expensive paint? Should you put mildewcide in the paint or is it already included? What about scents? Is the paint Oil base or water base? What tools should I have on hand?

Once these decisions have been made than it’s time to purchase the items and go home and start preparation for the paint job. Drop clothes, spackling, caulking, priming, sanding, sealing stains, washing walls and trim, removing outlet covers, masking windows and surfaces not to receive paint.

Now the painting begins… I have an interior painting article you should read that will help you learn more about how to paint your interior yourself and save thousands!
