Interior and Exterior Painting Contractors
Painting Contractors are available in Clark County, Washington to paint the exterior and interior of houses. In addition to painting the interior and exterior of houses they also paint commercial buildings, apartment complexes, multi-family dwellings, duplexes, condominiums, schools and churches. Some painting contractors will specialize in residential painting while other painting contractors will specialize in commercial or industrial painting projects.
Prices for painting varies between painting contractors. 3 Painting contractors could bid or provide an estimate on the same building and the prices may be as different as day and night. This makes it difficult for the homeowner or building owner to decide which painting company to hire for the project. Usually, the painting contractors will provide a list of references or a portfolio for the customer to call upon or review.
It is this author’s opinion that the cheapest bid is not always the worst painter nor is the highest bid always the best painter. In fact, it can be the opposite. The high bid may be the worse company but a better sales pitch while the middle bid may be the best painting company but lacking in sales pitch material. I suppose the best approach in deciding a painting contractor would be to contact the referrals provided and ask permission to view the workmanship up close.
But, than you need to know what to look for. Most people that do not understand the technical nature of painting will look at a home and say: Yup.. look’s great. This contractor is the cheapest and the paint job looks great… The questions that should arise are the following:
- Was the building or home properly pressure washed?
- Was the old defective caulking removed adequately before applying new sealant or caulking?
- Did the raw wood get primed properly?
- Did all tannin acid stains get sealed with the correct primer?
- Is there overspray on the windows or window frames?
- Is there overspray on the roof?
- Are there paint drips on the concrete walkways and patios?
- If a low, satin or semi-gloss sheen of paint was used did it flash on the siding?
- Was the siding the type that should have been backrolled after spraying?
- Did the home receive 1 coat or 2 coats of paint?
- On the Interior of the home did the walls get prepared properly before applying paint?
- Did the glossy surfaces get de-glossed before the paint was applied?
- Were the carpets protected from paint splatters?
- Are there any roller marks or lines from an inconsistant application of rolling?
The above questions are just a small sampling of critical questions to think about before deciding that the 3 bids you are comparing are truly apples for apples (so to speak).. The unseen can be the difference between a high quality paint job that will last versus a paint job that looks good today but in 6 months to 2 years you will live to regret.
